The Rapture of the church

(1st Thessalonians.4:15-18) 15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

The word “Rapture” means “being caught up”.  The Word “Rapture” is not found in the Holy Bible; however, it’s meaning “caught up” is found in the Bible.

One day; someday, millions will vanish from off the face of the earth.  While many will wonder what has happened to them; those who are familiar with Bible prophecy will know it was the rapture of the Church.  While no one knows the day nor the hour when it shall occur, we do know it will happen in a moment, in an instant, and in the twinkling of an eye.

(1st Corinthians.15:51-53) 51Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

Events that will occur during

the Rapture of the Church

  1. The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout.  However; He will not touch the earth; He will stand over the earth in the clouds

  2. (Acts.1: 9-11) 9And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

  1. The voice of the archangel will be heard.

  2. The trump of God will sound.

  3. The dead in Christ (those who physically died being a Christian) will first arise from the dead. They will arise in glorified bodies.

  4. Then, living saints will be changed (their bodies will be transformed into glorified bodies).

  5. Then all saints shall rise to meet the Lord Jesus in the air in the clouds.

  6. So shall saints ever be with the Lord.

Always remember that this will happen in a moment, in an instant, and in the twinkling of an eye.  People will not see this happening, they will just notice that millions have vanished from off the earth. Many will know the Rapture (catching up of saints) have occurred, others will not know what has happened.  After the vanishing of millions; chaos, confusion, and pandemonium will fill the earth; and fear will fill the hearts of men.  In searching for answers to why millions have vanished, some will turn to God, others will turn to science and men.  Those who turn to God will find salvation through Jesus Christ.  Those who turn to science and men will find the antichrist, and eternal damnation.

There are three basic views concerning when the Rapture will occur.  These views are centered around a seven-year time period called the Tribulation Period, and are listed below.  We will discuss the Tribulation Period in greater detail later in this book: however, the views of its’ occurrence are:

Views of when the Rapture occur?

  1. Pre-Trib: Many believe the Rapture of the church will happen before the Tribulation Period begins.  This is call the Pre-trib Rapture.  (1st Thessalonians.4:15-17).

  2. Mid-trib:  Many believe the Rapture of the church will happen in the middle of the Tribulation Period.  This is called Mid-trib Rapture. (Revelation.14:14-16).

  3. Post-Trib:  Many believe the Rapture of the church will happen at the end of the Tribulation Period.  This is called Post-trib Rapture. (Revelation.20:5-6).

Because no one really knows when this is going to happen, everyone need to be ready.  To be ready:

  1. One must be saved by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

  2. One must strive to live a righteous lifestyle.  One must quickly confess and repent when they sin.

  3. One must be performing the works of service God has called them to performed.

Doing the things listed above will make you rapture ready.

The Tribulation Period

The Tribulation Period. This time period will begin at the time when the antichrist will make a seven-year peace treaty between Israel and her enemies.  The Tribulation Period will last 7 years and will include all of the events in the Book of Revelation from chapter 6 through chapter 20:1-2.  The second 3 ½ years of this seven-year period will be called “The Great Tribulation Period.”  (Matthew 24:21).  We will discuss the Tribulation Period in greater details at the latter end of this book.
